Poverty’s Pets incurs a lot costs with most of our rescues. We are looking for Sponsors to help us cover those costs. Our adoption fee is $200 dollars. We can incur over double that in medical expenses if one of our dogs is hurt or sick. We rescue a lot of animals from underserved communities that are heavy with Parvo and Distemper cases. We know the signs of these terrible diseases and act immediately to give every dog the chance to survive. If you would like to Sponsor one of our dogs medical needs please click on the link below next to the pet's name. To make a general donation to the Poverty's Pets program, please click here. Buddy was pulled from a home where he lived outside in the front yard his whole life. Poverty’s Pets volunteers noticed him several years ago and helped the owners secure the yard so he would not be tied up. In October of 2008, we noticed Buddy was losing lots of weight and his hair was falling out. We asked the owners to release him to us as he was evidently very sick! They did and we saved him from a bad case of tick fever, malnutrition, an ear infection, a hurt paw and mostly likely depression! Buddy was adopted by a wonderful woman in April 2009. At 10 years old he went to live in a retirement community with his new Mom. We are excited for Buddy to spend his very first Arizona summer inside with cool air conditioning, free of ticks and infections. Buddy had several visits to the vet’s office for blood tests and check ups and medicine. Spot came to us with Distemper, our first exposure to this deadly disease. Spot came to us so his suffering could end. He was so sick by the time he given to us that the best thing we could do was give him peace from his respiratory infection and neurological suffering.
Linus came to us covered in Ticks. His skinhad many wounds and infections from his life of neglect. His outdoor lifestyle and lack of care left him lethargic and depressed. We took him in and took him straight to the vet. After removing the ticks and taking medicine to clear up the skin infections the lethargy and depression were went away. Today Linus is a happy, healthy dog who greets everyone with a smile and a constant wagging tail!
