Buddy was under Poverty's Pets watchful eyes for about three years. Our community service team officially took him under our wings when we recognized his need for help. Despite their good intentions his owners were unable to properly care for this Gentle Giant. Buddy suffered from old age, heat exposure, ticks and poor nutrition. We tried to educate Buddy’s owners about the dangerous and cruel nature of his living environment. Thankfully his owners recognized that it was best to let Buddy go into more capable hands. When they turned Buddy over he was lifeless and depressed. His blood test showed a high grade of tick fever. He had lived with a horrible ear infection for months. ![]() Sometimes life starts at ten years old; or 77 in dog years! Buddy lived with Poverty's Pets for about 7 months. He slowly got healthy and really started living! We were amazed to see him run after the tennis ball, hang out in the pool, wag that tail and totally dig the indoor life of cool air and a clean environment. The Poverty's Pets team figured that Buddy would live out his life in our happy foster home. We were delighted when Patty called to adopt Buddy. Patty was not deterred by his old age, large size, and significant shedding. After adopting him she came to feel that he was her soul mate. He sleeps on the couch and follows his new Mom everywhere. We are grateful to Patty for adopting Buddy and smothering him with the love he has been waiting for his whole life. |
