Success Story - Charlie PDF Print E-mail

When Poverty's Pets volunteers were in a low income neighborhood doing service work for animals, they came across Charlie. The volunteers had visited Charlie for about a year supporting his owners with dog food. On that day it was a surprise to see him with a gashing medical emergency on the top of his head. He was immediately taken to the vet where Charlie spent his afternoon under anesthesia getting his wound shaved, cleaned and treated. He was affectionately nick-named him "hamburger head" as that is what it looked like. It was painful to bring him back to the environment he came from.

To our surprise, the pet-parent asked if Poverty’s Pets could take Charlie due to his inability to care for him. Perhaps he was too overwhelmed by the site of his wounded dog. With tears in his eyes and a few hugs, this kind man allowed us to find Charlie a better life.

Charlie was up for adoption for about 6 hours before his foster mom declared love and the story ended ~ Charlie safe, healthy and very happy.
